A Star Descended From The Sky

CMD

A star descended from the sky,
A sign from God most high.
“My son is born, his kingdom nigh,
In darkness shines his light.”
As wise men worship, Herod plots;
God’s own, they knew him not,
While foreign lords their tribute brought
And bowed before their Lord.

Then into Egypt went God’s Son,
The holy promised one;
Exiled beneath a foreign sun:
The son of God’s right hand.
Hear Rachel’s weeping, full of woe,
Her children are no more.
The serpent’s son has struck his blow
Against the rightful throne.

Yet when the dragon’s war was waged
And Herod spent his rage,
The child returned, our grief assuaged,
Good news to all enslaved:
God’s champion returns to fight
And set his world to right,
To cast the dragon into night
And claim his holy bride.
