7.7.7.7.D
Bread was broken by the Lord
On the night he spoke this word,
Laid this table by decree:
“Eat and drink, remember me!”
So, we come with outstretched hands
To the table where God stands.
Christ says, “Break and eat this bread,
I was broken in your stead.”
Cup of wrath poured out for Christ
God’s own son, a sacrifice.
Died that we might seek his face.
Bled to pour this cup of grace.
Drink and know that sin shall end,
Take the cup of Christ as friend.
Christ says, “Drink this wine and see
I from wrath have set you free.”
Eat and drink, when all is done
We shall feast with Heaven’s son.
’till that day, proclaim Christ’s death
With each bite, each sip, each breath.
Blood and body of the king:
Take and eat, oh drink and sing!
Christ says, “Come, take bread and wine
At my table we shall dine.”
