8.7.8.7.D
Christ is king when sun is rising,
King when dawn begins its glow.
He in kindness, e’er surprising,
Through all days his comforts know.
Christ is king when sun is setting,
King when light fades from our eyes.
Have no fear in fowler’s netting,
He has promised we shall rise.
Christ is king in times of blessing.
Give him thanks for blessed days
”All is grace and gift,” confessing,
Give to him his rightful praise.
Christ is king in times of sorrow
When He thwarts what we’d long planned.
Christ our king still holds tomorrow:
All is safe in his strong hand.
Christ is King in greenest pastures,
Still, cool water flowing by.
When he leads with gentlest gestures,
To the place where we will lie.
Christ is king in death’s deep valley
When our foes are all around.
Though we’re lost in sin and folly
By our shepherd we’ll be found.
