All was bliss, till Adam fell
So God sent Immanuel.
God from God, with man to dwell:
Jesus our Immanuel.
All our sin had earned us hell
But God sent Immanuel.
Satan’s power to dispel
By the name Immanuel.
God whose glories all excel
Came down as Immanuel.
So we bid our pride farewell,
Kneeling to Immanuel.
Though the waves of sorrow swell
We cling to Immanuel.
And his praise we’ll ever tell:
Jesus our Immanuel.
