11.11.11.11
With refrain (6.6.6.6.11.11)
Both lowly and mighty shall wither and fade.
For man is but grass for a moment displayed.
The sun burns above and they fall to the ground.
But blessed are the steadfast, with life they are crowned.
Ask the Lord! Ask the Lord!
For the wisdom to live.
Ask the Lord! Ask the Lord! He has promised to give.
So ask him in faith without doubt and believe
The whole-hearted servant shall blessing receive.
Let none say “God tempts me” for such cannot be
Our Father from sin and temptation is free
Desires of evil grow up into sin
Our failings and failures all come from within.
Our Father of lights is the giver of gifts
He changes not, varies not, never he shifts
Who by his own will brought us forth by his word
To serve as his firstfruits, our saviour and Lord.
