8.8.8.8
My comfort, both in life and death,
Is knowing I am not my own,
But every moment, every breath
Belongs to Christ and him alone.
My faithful Saviour died for me –
His precious blood paid sin’s full price.
From Satan’s pow’r he set me free –
Redeemed my soul through sacrifice.
Unless it be my Father’s will,
No harm can ever come to me.
He will work all things – good or ill –
To bring me home eternally.
The Spirit gives the guarantee
Of endless life before the throne,
And makes me ready, joyfully
To live for Christ and him alone.
How great was all my sin and shame:
How precious is Christ’s full reply!
In thankfulness I’ll praise his name,
And in this comfort, live and die.
