11.11.11.11
O Lord born in squalor in Bethlehem town.
Our God from heav’n’s splendour to earth now come down:
How could we then grumble or such grace mistrust?
Help us to be humble for we are but dust.
O Lord washed in water in Jordan by John.
Belov’d by the Father, God’s own sinless son.
The only one righteous, you stooped to our shame,
Lost sinners to purchase and give us your name.
O Lord wracked with hunger on Israel’s sand,
Who turned from the tempter and trusted God’s hand.
Show us now your mercy, each day ever new.
Help us to walk worthy, to you keep us true.
O Lord who came preaching, “Repent, I am here!”
Your kingdom now reaching to lands far and near.
Help us see your light, Lord, in darkness we dwell.
Help us trust the true word and follow you well.
We have no high priest who cannot sympathise
But one who endured to now hear all our cries
And so we draw near, Lord, in need to this place,
For mercy and comfort to your throne of grace.
