Paschal lamb my sacrifice:
Perfect son to pay sin’s price.
Mine the sin he came to take.
Mine the chains he came to break.
I deserved eternal death,
Wondrous grace to sing each breath:
“God’s own firstborn slain instead,
God’s own blood for me is shed.”
Light from God in darkness shone
Light of God on me has dawned
Signs and wonders he has done
Plagued his foes, his people won,
Humbled kings, exalted slaves,
Freed them even from their graves.
But the greatest wonder see:
God has saved a wretch like me.
“Pass” says bloodied post and cross:
Mine the feast and his the loss.
Wrath of God must pass me by:
Lamb of God for me has died!
Lamb who trampled serpent down,
King who crushed the Pharaoh’s crown.
To this kingly lamb I’ll raise
All my praise for endless days.
